Rio Norte Conservation Club 2009 ![]()
To all interested students in protecting and preserving the natural world, our home planet Earth. I am excited about the opportunity to be an advisor for Rio Norte’s Conservation Club. There are many noble pursuits and philanthropic endeavors and they all have in common the preservation, protection, and promotion of life, human or otherwise. This nature club hopes to involve students and other stakeholders (which we all are in someway), in a fun and rewarding venture of conservation of wildlife and of course their habitats. My mission as the coordinator, is not to convince student members of my perspectives, but to let them form their own informed opinions and discuss and act on what we can do to support the positive resolutions to these issues. This club is for students who enjoy nature and all its inhabitants. We will decide together what we would like to do and set goals but some ideas are: adopt an endangered species, fundraising for select environmental organizations, hikes, camping, participating in Yosemite Institute programs--right there in the park!, and educate ourselves and the public on conservation issues. Rio Norte Conservation Club is not necessarily supporting or promoting these non-profit organizations, but we consider each a prominent and trustworthy stake holder in the endeavors of conservation. Sincerely, Bob Fiero Club Advisor |

The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) is the leading international conservation organization focused solely on Africa. We believe that protecting Africa’s wildlife and wild landscapes is the key to the future prosperity of Africa and its people – and for over forty-five years we have made it our work to help ensure that Africa’s wild resources endure. AWF’s strategy begins with conservation of habitat and ecosystems, but conserving land alone is not always enough. For many species, the biggest threat comes from people. AWF’s species conservation explores human-wildlife conflict - from the effects of poaching to patterns of predator attacks on livestock - and builds programs that benefit both humans and animals. Help AWF find new ways to conserve Africa’s wildlife for future generations. |
