Schedule of Tests & Study Guides
All formal (i.e. recorded for a grade) tests and quizzes are announced ahead of
time in class and of course in the schedule below and in the daily agenda calendar.
If there is a study guide the title of it will be in bold and blue font to show it as link to a document.
Study tip: reread notes on the standards & lectures (remember cornell notes make great self-quizzes, just cover up your questions in the left-hand column and attempt to answer-check by reading your notes); reread the chapter and use the questions provided in the text; there are practice tests online from this website; and master your understanding of the vocabulary words!
All tests/quizzes maybe retaken within a week after original test for up to 78-80% (see syllabus for more details). Often students who receive a score of 'D' or lower will be given an extra assignment as a learning intervention if they choose not to retake the test in question within the alloted two weeks.

Quarter 4
BrainPOP Quizzes on Immune System and Viruses on 4/11 for Block A & for Block B 4/12. No retake opportunities for these.
Chapter 7-4 Classification of Life: on 3/31 for Block A and for Block B on 4/1. There are website practice tests to aid in studying along with notes and the project you are completed. Topics: taxonomy, Carl Linaeus, taxa (levels of classificaiton), and scientific names.
Quarter 3
Qtr. 3 Benchmark on 2/17 for Block B and for Block A 2/18. Study Chapter 4-3 and 4-4, Chapter 5-1 to 5-3, and page 135 on DNA.
Chapter 5-3 Genetics: on 2/16 for Block A and for Block B on 2/15.
Chapter 5-2 Genetics: on 2/10 for Block A and for Block B on 2/8.
Chapter 5-1 Genetics: on 2/3 for Block A and for Block B on 2/2.
Chapter 5 Genetics Vocabulary Quiz (study Chapter 5; suggest using INB notes for the main words/concepts): on 1/28 for Block A and for Block B on 1/27.
DNA Quiz (study page 135; INB notes): on 1/20 for Block A and for Block B on 1/21.
Chapter 4-3 Cell Cycle Quiz (study Chapter 4-3; suggest using the flash cards for each phase/stage.): on 1/14 for Block A and for Block B on 1/18.
Quarter 2
Benchmark Test (Chapters 3 & 4; see study guide assignment): on 12/6for Block A and for Block B 12/7. Test Retakes deadline until 12/15.
Chapter 4-2 Quiz (study Chapter 4-1 Photosynthesis-using the reading guide sheets in the workbook; chapter review and checkpont questions in the text; website practice tests, etc.): on 11/22 for Block A and for Block B 11/23.
Chapter 4-1 Quiz (study Chapter 4-2 Cellular Respiration-using the reading guide sheets in the workbook; chapter review and checkpont questions in the text; website practice tests, etc.): on 11/24 for all classes.
Chapter 3-2 Organelle Quiz (study Chapter 3-2; suggest making cards for each organelle, etc.): on 11/16 for all classes. Cannot be retaken-common assessment.
Chapter 3-1 Quiz (study Chapter 3-1-using the reading guide sheets in the workbook; chapter review and checkpont questions in the text; website practice tests, etc.): on 11/4 for Block A and for Block B 11/5. Cannot be retaken-common assessment.
Microscope Test (study Appendix B in Book or INB inserted notes to know parts of the microscope and how to use one): on 11/2 for Block A and for Block B 11/3-must be passed (with retakes if necessary) to do the microscope labs that quickly follow.
Vocabulary Cell Chapter 3 Test: on 10/27 for Block A and for Block B 10/28. Test Retakes deadline until 11/12.
Benchmark Test (Chapter 13, 14-1 & 2, eye, ear: see study guide assignment): on 10/15 for Block A and for Block B 10/18. Test Retakes deadline until 11/1. It will be on t he Quarter 2 grades to allow for time to retake it or make it up.
Chapter 14-1 & 14-2 Test (circulatory/cardiovascular test): on 10/8 for Block A and for Block B 10/11. Test Retakes deadline until 10/15. It will be on t he Quarter 2 grades to allow for time to retake it or make it up.
Quarter 1
Chapter 13 Test (all-skeletal, muscular, organization, and homeostasis): on 9/23 for Block A and for Block B 9/24. Test Retakes deadline until 10/8.
Chapter 13-2 Functions, joints, etc. Label the bones of skeleton (just the 21 that we have been studying): on 9/21 for Block A and for Block B 9/22. Test Retakes deadline until 10/6.
Chapter 13-1 Common Assessment for Rio Norte JHS (organization, homeostasis, and at least three organ systems): on 9/15 for Block A and for Block B 9/16. Retakes deadline until 9/30.
Chapter 1 Test-open book on 8/27 for Block A and for Block B 8/30. Test Retakes deadline until 9/13.
Science Safety on 8/18 for Block A and for Block B 8/19. Retakes unnecessary-make-up assignment given if less than 90%.
